Diagnosing the Root Causes of Curtain Wall Failures
Curtain wall failures are a common and often high visibility problems for commercial owners and managers. Examples of the most common ways in which a curtain wall can fail, will be examined including air and water penetration, structural failures, and aesthetic degradation. From design and installation, to components reaching their design life-cycle, curtain walls fail for a variety of reasons. Practical examples are used to show the root causes of the failures, and what could have been done to prevent them. You will learn the functions of a curtain wall and why they fail.

Mr. Wood is the President of C3 Polymeric Limited. A graduate of the System Design Engineering program at the University of Waterloo, Rob has been with C3 since 2001. He has overseen a numerous curtain wall retrofits on occupied commercial buildings. These include the retrofit of the window system at Toronto City Hall; and curtain wall retrofits at 400 University Avenue in Toronto; and City Centre Place and Oxford Towers in downtown Edmonton.
